Virgin Australia has taken delivery of a new Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft. This aircraft, delivered through a sale and leaseback agreement with aircraft finance company Avolon, brings to 12 the number of Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft in the Sydney Airport-based airline’s livery.
The agreement with Avolon includes the delivery of five more of the same model to the Australian airline.
Paul Geaney, CEO of Avolon, said: «Virgin Australia has always been a very important customer for us. We are pleased to expand our relationship with a company with an excellent reputation and great prestige.»
For his part, Race Strauss, Chief Financial Officer of Virgin Australia, underlined the importance of this addition: «We are delighted with the arrival of this new Boeing 737-8 Max in our fleet thanks to our cooperation with Avolon. This aircraft will enable us to improve our quality of service and optimize our regional operations. Their advantages in terms of passenger comfort and their excellent performance at high-altitude airports make them the ideal aircraft to meet the needs of local and international markets, while increasing our seat capacity and reducing our operating costs.»
