Chinese airline plans to launch direct flights between China and Australia

A Chinese airline is preparing to launch a direct flight to Darwin.

Inaugurated by China Southern Airlines from Guangzhou, this international flight, lasting approximately five and a half hours, will officially launch on December 3 of this year, according to the Courier Mail.

CSA plans to use its 178-seat, three-class Boeing 737 MAX 8 to operate three weekly flights with scheduled departures at 9:55 PM from Guangzhou Airport.

This route was launched seven years after the first China-Australia route, launched by Donghai Airlines between Shenzhen and Darwin with direct flights, was suspended due to low traffic.

In a statement, China Southern announced that its flight to Darwin inaugurates what could be the beginning of a series of non-stop routes connecting major airports in both countries, such as Beijing, Shanghai-Pudong, and Guangzhou-Baiyun on the Chinese side, and Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane on the Australian side.
