Jetstar Group Bookings: Terms, rates and procedures

Whether it’s a school trip, a wedding, a sporting event or a corporate seminar… Jetstar offers a dedicated group booking service to facilitate their travel. Here’s how it works, based on Jetstar’s official terms and conditions.

What is a Jetstar group booking?

A minimum of 10 people travelling together is required to benefit from the group booking rate.

Important: Group fares are not discounted fares; they are generally higher than the fares available online because they include additional services.

How do I request a group reservation with Jetstar?

Group bookings for more than 9 passengers cannot be made through the standard booking engine: they must be requested directly from Jetstar’s group sales team, by email at groupreservations@jetstar.com, or via the online form available at this link: https://www.jetstar.com/au/en/groupbookingform

You can also contact Jetstar’s customer service team by phone at 1300 792 688 (available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

Jetstar strives to respond to requests within 48 hours. If you decide to proceed with your reservation, you must confirm it within 48 hours; after that, Jetstar will finalize the booking and send an email summarizing all the reservation details.

Independent travelers and group escorts

A single escort may accompany up to four passengers who do not meet Jetstar’s independent traveler requirements (see our guide on specific assistance for details on these requirements).

School groups and students

For school groups unable to provide the identification documents usually required for children, it is recommended to contact the Jetstar group bookings team directly, who may be able to offer an acceptable alternative.

An even larger group? A full charter

If your group is large enough to fill an entire aircraft, you may consider a full “buyout” of one of Jetstar’s scheduled flights—the process is simpler than you might think. Feel free to contact Jetstar’s customer service to get a personalized quote, check availability on your desired route, and receive assistance with the administrative procedures involved in this type of reservation.

How can I pay for a Jetstar group reservation?

Payment can be made through your travel agency’s account, by credit card (Amex, Visa, Mastercard, Diners) or by bank transfer or check, depending on the region.

Once the reservation request is confirmed, it is placed on hold pending receipt of a deposit. If the deposit is not received by the deadline, the reservation will be automatically cancelled. The deposit is non refundable if you decide to cancel your trip.

Good to know: There are no booking or service fees for group bookings.

Provide passenger names by the deadline:

A list of the names of all passengers in the group (as they appear on their passports) must be provided no later than 14 days before departure. These names can then be changed free of charge if you notify Jetstar at least 2 business days before the originally scheduled departure date.

Baggage allowance for group passengers

Each passenger is entitled to a checked baggage allowance of up to 20 kg, plus one carry-on bag weighing up to 7 kg, with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 20 cm.

The checked baggage allowance may be combined and shared among members of the same group upon request. It is also possible to pre-purchase up to 20 kg of additional baggage per person (for a total of 40 kg) at a reduced rate, up to 48 hours before departure.

Important: Purchasing an additional 7 kg of carry-on allowance is not available on group fares.

Changes and fare conditions

Changes to the flight date or time can be made if you notify Jetstar at least 24 hours before the originally scheduled departure time. However, several restrictions apply:

– Changes to the origin and/or destination of the trip are not permitted.

– Depending on the region, a group reservation may be non-refundable and non-transferable; any passenger who does not check in for their flight forfeits the full fare.

– If the group size decreases during the trip, the reservation may be maintained as long as a minimum of 10 passengers remain on at least one of the affected flights; a change fee and any fare difference may apply.

Check-in and boarding

On Jetstar, group check-in is exclusively at the airport check-in counter, either individually or one after the other; there are no self-service kiosks or online check-in options.

Travelers are advised to arrive at the check-in counter at least 90 minutes before departure for domestic flights (Australia/New Zealand) and at least 2 hours before for international flights.

All passengers, including children and infants accompanied by an adult, must present a valid form of identification (on domestic flights) or a passport (on international flights).

Once checked in, groups are generally assigned seats together so that members can travel together in the cabin.

Regarding boarding: As with all passengers, it is recommended to arrive at the boarding gate well in advance.
