Virgin Australia plans to introduce two weekly flights between Melbourne and Doha next December.
The launch of this route is the result of a partnership between Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways, which has already led to the inauguration of two other long-haul routes last June, connecting Brisbane and Perth to Doha.
With the expected launch of flights between Melbourne and Doha Hamad at the end of the year, the two partner airlines expect to sell nearly 2.7 million seats annually.

The new routes will allow Virgin Australia passengers to enjoy fast and direct connections aboard a B777 aircraft, one of the most prestigious on the market, with its Qsuite Business Class, chosen as the best Business Class in the world in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2024.
Dave Emerson, CEO of Virgin Australia, said: “Through our partnership with Qatar Airways, we are enriching our offering by enabling our customers to easily reach Doha and travel across a network that includes more than 170 destinations worldwide.”
“This agreement is a highly anticipated addition to our expanding network and demonstrates our commitment to providing personalized travel solutions to meet the expectations of our passengers seeking flexibility, comfort, and seamless travel,” he added.
