Qantas: Sydney-Port Macquarie flight diverted after fire alarm

A Qantas Dash 8Q400, deployed yesterday at 8:35 a.m. from Sydney to Port Macquarie, diverted for an emergency landing at its departure airport after a fire alarm sounded.

The Dash 8Q400 which departed Sydney on Thursday, July 17, with 74 passengers on board and bound for Port Macquarie was en route over the northern beaches of the New South Wales capital when a fire alarm sounded.

The captain decided to divert to Kingsford Smith Airport. Qantas confirmed the incident, stating that after verification, the alarm sounded unintentionally. An investigation revealed that there was no smoke or fire on board the aircraft.

A few hours later, the passengers who were taken care of by their airline, were transported to their destination after a delay of several hours.
