Virgin Australia has announced news that should delight dog and cat owners. The Australian airline has decided to extend the trial period for its pet in-cabin service.
While the service was initially scheduled to end this January, Virgin Australia has decided to extend the trial period until the end of June 2026.
The service, which was launched approximately three months ago, has been a resounding success.
“No fewer than three dogs and cats were transported in the cabin alone during flights operated over the holiday season.” announced Libby Minogue, Virgin Australia’s Director of Marketing and Customer Operations.
The service, currently offered on flights between Melbourne (MEL) and Gold Coast (OOL) and Sunshine Coast (MCY), may be extended to other domestic routes in the coming months.
This service is offered at 149 AUD (one way), and can also be booked with Velocity points (18,600 points).
