Qantas plane makes emergency landing

A Dash 8 Q400 aircraft operated by Qantas on a flight between Mildura and Melbourne on Monday had to make an emergency landing on Thursday because the aircraft’s flaps were jammed, officials said at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

The incident, caused by a technical problem, occurred after takeoff from Mildura Airport, and the aircraft returned to land there, according to the airline. “Qantas can confirm that the aircraft operating flight QF 2079, carrying 59 passengers, landed safely,” the Australian airline said in a statement. “Passengers disembarked normally, and the pilot followed safety instructions from the control tower,” the airline added.

Qantas offers up to 27 departures per week on the Mildura-Melbourne route, with an average of three daily frequencies offered year-round.
