Qantas launches flights to two Australian islands

Qantas is launching direct flights to several tropical islands in Australia. According to Yahoo News, Australia’s iconic airline is flying twice weekly to Cocos Islands and Christmas Island from Perth.

“We are delighted to announce today the inauguration of this new route connecting Perth to these two Indian Ocean islands and allowing our travelers to discover two small, secluded paradises,” the Australian airline announced in a press release.

Starting November 3, these two routes, each lasting approximately 5 hours, will operate every Monday and Friday by A320. Qantas will initially operate two flights per week but does not rule out the possibility of adding a third flight soon, depending on demand.

In this regard, David Watchorn, President of Christmas Island Tourism, said: “The opening of these two routes by Qantas allows our island to welcome more visitors, which means more job opportunities for our residents.”
