The Embraer E190-E2, recently added to the Virgin Australia fleet after being delivered by Azorra, completed its maiden flight on October 27. This 100-seat aircraft operated flight VA9217, departing Perth Airport at 7:15 a.m. and landing at Boolgeeda Airport at 9:05 a.m.
This aircraft is the first of its kind to join the Australian airline’s fleet, paving the way for the acquisition of several more aircraft from the same family to strengthen its charter network, operated by its Virgin Australia Regional Airlines division.
The E190-E2, configured to accommodate 100 passengers in two travel classes, including eight in Business Class, boasts remarkable fuel efficiency with a fuel consumption reduction of up to 30% compared to the Fokker 100. This results in a significant decrease in emissions and operating costs on key routes served by the airline in Western Australia.
Furthermore, the E190-E2 features a modern engine that halves the noise level. The Pratt & Whitney GTF engine also provides increased fuel efficiency of up to 20%.
The cabins are significantly more spacious than those of the Fokker 100, offering 100 seats in a 2-2 configuration.
