Virgin Australia is temporarily offering passengers traveling on its domestic flights the option to travel with their pets in the cabin.
This announcement follows the company’s receipt of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) approval for the carriage of pets in the cabin.
This new service designed to provide greater peace of mind for vacationers, enhances its policy for the carriage of pets and assistance animals.
Cats and dogs weighing 10 kg and under (including the weight of the container) will be permitted on the vast majority of the carrier’s flights.
Dave Emersen, CEO of Virgin Australia Group, said the Australian airline was delighted to become the first airline in the country to offer pets on board its flights. “We are proud to offer this service as we allow our passengers to travel with their four-legged friends, a first in the history of our airline.”
D.Emersen also announced that the introduction of this new service will not affect the airline’s ability to continue offering its assistance animal transport service to its passengers.
