Qantas slashes prices: Flights from $99!

Qantas has just unveiled its most ambitious promotion of 2026 on the Australian domestic market. More than two million seats are being offered at bargain prices, with Economy fares starting at just $99 one way.

An unprecedented sale

The offer covers no fewer than 101 routes to 60 destinations across the country, making it one of the most extensive fare campaigns the airline has launched in several years. Unlike typical sales, this one includes a particularly high number of connections: the Gold Coast, for example, is served by no fewer than 21 different routes included in the promotion.

Notably, the discount isn’t limited to Economy class: Business class is also included, with prices starting from around $269 to $299 depending on the route.

Booking deadline

The booking window is short. Sales opened at 12:01 a.m. (Australian Eastern Time) and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, unless the promotional seat stock sells out before then. In other words, it’s best not to wait too long if you’re interested in a specific destination.

However, eligible travel dates cover a much wider range: tickets purchased this week can be used for flights scheduled through August 2027. This includes several popular periods such as the Christmas and New Year holidays, summer school breaks, and the ANZAC Day weekend.

Flights for $99

The $99 fare applies to a selection of routes, including:

Melbourne – Adelaide
Melbourne – Launceston
Sydney – Gold Coast
Sydney – Dubbo
Brisbane – Hervey Bay
Adelaide – Kangaroo Island (Kingscote Airport)
Cairns – Townsville
Adelaide – Port Lincoln

It should be noted that this entry-level price also applies to two routes that are not yet operational. Qantas is already selling its future flights between Brisbane and Western Sydney International Airport, as well as between Melbourne and the same airport, at $99. However, these services are not expected to launch until March 28, 2027, and remain subject to approval by the relevant authorities.

What about other major cities?

Prices logically increase on routes between major cities, where demand is higher:

Sydney – Brisbane and Sydney – Melbourne: from $119
Melbourne – Gold Coast: from $129
Sydney – Hobart: from $159
Adelaide – Sydney: from $149
Adelaide – Brisbane and Adelaide – Canberra: from $179
Darwin Network (from Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney): from $249
Perth – Adelaide: from $279

For Business Class, expect to pay around $269 between Brisbane and Gladstone or Rockhampton, and from $299 on routes such as Melbourne–Sydney, Melbourne-Canberra, or Melbourne-Hobart.
