Qantas retires its Dash 8-Q300

The De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q300 (registration QF2003) belonging to Qantas likely made its final flight yesterday when it was deployed on the QF2003 route between Tamworth and Sydney.

The Australian airline has decided to retire its Dash 8-Q300 from its fleet after completing nearly 40,000 flights and carrying just over a million passengers during more than 25 years of service.

The Dash 8 Q300 will be replaced by the Dash 8 Q400

Qantas plans to equip its fleet with 16 Dash 8 Q300s. The airline has placed an order with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada for 14 of this twin-engine turboprop.

These aircraft will be gradually removed from its fleet to be replaced by Dash 8 Q400s, “modern, larger and more efficient aircraft,” the American company specified.
