Qantas: Flights between Sydney and Port Moresby Jacksons resume

After suspending it earlier this year, Qantas has announced its intention to reinstate its flight between Sydney Kingsford Smith and Port Moresby Jacksons, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

This route will be included in Qantas’ international flight schedule from March 2026, with two weekly flights, operated every Monday and Friday on a Boeing 737.

As Port Moresby Jacksons prepares to join Rugby League (the premier sporting competition in Australia), Qantas will resume this service, strengthening its offering to Papua New Guinea, which is already served daily from Brisbane.

With no competition on this route, Qantas will offer 35,000 seats annually.

Cam Wallace, CEO of Qantas International, explained in a statement that the reopening of this route responds to the growing demand recorded by customers of the Australian airline: “As Papua New Guinea is in full preparation to join Australia’s premier rugby league competition within two years, these increases will allow our customers, including rugby fans, to choose from two weekly flights year-round between Sydney and Port Moresby, and enjoy more options to travel to other destinations in Australia.”
